Financial Counselor/Prior Authorization Specialist

Description: Full time position available, 40 hours per week (8:30am to 5pm shift). Responsible for conducting insurance benefit investigations from all new and existing Oncology/Hematology patients. Meets with patients to review and explain benefits based on plan coverage. Assists patients with obtaining access to co-pay assistance funds as appropriate. Refers patients to social worker for assistance in filling for disability as appropriate. Assists patients with billing questions, concerns and complaints. Responsible for obtaining insurance prior authorizations for diagnostic procedures, medications and other services. Works closely with Oncology/Hematology, Pharmacy, Coding, Billing, and Patient Financial Services to develop systems that ensure that revenue is captured appropriately. Able to multi-task and adjust priorities quickly in a fast paced work setting. Provides back up for PSR�?????�????�???�??�?�¢??s as necessary. Associates degree required. Bachelors degree preferred. Must have a minimum of 2 years work experience in a Physician Practice. Experience with insurance verification/prior authorizations are required. Experience with billing/coding is preferred. Experience with financial counseling and managed care are required. Must have knowledge of ICD-9 and CPT coding guidelines. Experience with obtaining insurance prior authorizations is required. Experience with developing new positions/systems is preferred. Must have excellent customer service skills as well as excellent oral and written communication skills.
