Emergency Services Our Emergency Department is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, including weekends and all holidays.
Parkview’s ER is always staffed with Board-Certified physicians and specially-trained nursing and support personnel. They are prepared to handle all manner of illness, injury or trauma. A special ‘helipad’ behind the hospital allows ‘Life Flight of Maine’ to land at Parkview and transport patients with life threatening injuries and conditions to Central Maine Medical Center. The short helicopter ride to Lewiston means the difference between life and death for many patients. Parkview’s special relationship with Central Maine Medical Center means your loved one has access to multi-tiered care from some of the state’s top physicians.
When a member of your family needs urgent care, you can count on Parkview to treat them in a timely manner.
Here’s what you can expect in the ER:
- When you arrive you will register with our registration desk.
- After you are registered, a triage nurse will evaluate your medical condition and the severity of your illness or injury.
- Your vital signs will be assessed, which may include: Your blood pressure, pulse, temperature, oxygen saturation, and respiratory effort.
While you are a PATIENT in the Emergency Department:
- Your visitors are welcome to take turns coming in to see you, but please be courteous of the limited space and the privacy needs of other patients.
- Please ask the staff before you eat or drink anything.
- Please inform the staff that you need to use the restroom, as lab samples may be crucial to your timely and effective treatment.
