Free blood pressure screenings are available to anyone at anytime through the Emergency Department at Parkview Adventist Medical Center. There may be a delay in case of a critical emergency.  Come by anytime.

Breathe Free Plan to Stop Smoking
This course is for individuals seeking group support in becoming free from tobacco addiction. The focus is on personal growth and development, while creating new habits to meet the needs that tobacco once fulfilled.

Personal Wellness Profile
This program provides a complete health and lifestyle assessment based on the most current scientific guidelines for optimal health.  It evaluates family history, biometrics, clinical testing, nutrition, fitness, stress management and several other crucial health factors.  You will be given a lengthy page analysis of your overall wellness assessment, physical fitness, eating habits, heart health, cancer risk, body composition, osteoporosis risk stress, safety and much more.  Call to make an appointment. Do you want to learn more about various aspects of health?  Join Parkview physicians and staff for discussions and lectures on a variety of topics.  Sessions are held at the hospital or in the community.

Vegetarian Cooking School
Are you busy with little time to cook?  Do you open "healthy" cook books and wonder what half of the ingredients are, let alone where to buy them?  Introducing "The Veggie Way," a series of education and cooking classes to teach you how to prepare healthful "everyday" vegetarian food for life in the 21st century.

Alanon
A 12-step program which offers hope and help for families and friends of alcoholics. Call 207.737.4734 for more information.

Food Addicts in Recovery
Maine Food Addicts In Recovery Anonymous (FA), is a 12-step recovery program which offers a solution for all forms of food addiction including obesity, anorexia, and bulimia.  There are no dues or fees.

"MOPS" Mothers of Preschoolers
Do you think spaghetti is a finger food?  Sleep´like a baby´(up at 12, 2 and 4)?  Write your grocery list in crayon?  Say "bye-bye" to everyone? Diagnosis: You are the mom of a preschooler! Prescription: Attend a MOPS meeting twice a month. Overeaters Anonymous is a fellowship of individuals who, through shared experience, strength and hope are recovering from compulsive overeating.  We welcome everyone who wants to stop eating compulsively. There are no dues or fees for members; we are self-supporting through our own contributions, neither soliciting nor accepting outside donations.  OA is not affiliated with any public or private organization, political movement, ideology or religious doctrine; we take no position on outside issues.  Our primary purpose is to abstain from compulsive overeating and to carry this message of recovery to those who still suffer."  Click here for a list of Maine OA meetings.

"Living with Loss" Grief Recovery
Group for families and friends who've lost a loved one. Six sessions.
The Chaplains at Parkview offer bereavement support, such as:

  • Informal grief counseling by telephone or office visit and Christian counselors who arel trained to help those who grieve.
  • Grief education and support groups from a Christian perspective.  We also can help you access other grief support in our community.
  • Resource materials helpful to those who have lost a loved one.
